Man ambushed by gunmen as he entered own home with wife, baby inside
An armed California man successfully defended his family from gun-wielding home invaders during a fierce shootout over the weekend, according to reports.
The harrowing incident unfolded at around 7:30 p.m. on Saturday night in Los Angeles.
A man returning to his home in the Mid-City neighborhood was ambushed by suspects wearing masks and hoodies.
Surveillance footage of what transpired has been circulating on social media.
The homeowner can be seen exiting his vehicle as his driveway gate closes behind him.
As he walks through his front entryway, at least two suspects hop over a perimeter wall and sprint towards him brandishing firearms, ultimately pressing one into the man’s body.
The man reacts quickly, slapping the lead aggressor’s gun away and drawing his own weapon from concealment.
A ferocious gun battle ensues as the suspects flee and the man pursues his attackers.
“Out of nowhere I felt someone run up behind me, put something to my back, put a pistol to my back and somebody running up,” the man told ABC 7 under condition of anonymity.
“I guess they decided to try to come at me and come in the house but I have a five-month-old baby and a wife and a nanny in the house and that wasn’t going to happen.”
“There was nothing in my house that was worth dying for. But I was willing to die for my family,” he asserted.
The homeowner was not injured during the confrontation.
No suspects were apprehended or identified as of Monday, according to the latest available updates at the time of this writing.
