Wenheng Zhao sentenced to two years in jail after pleading guilty to transmitting secret files to Chinese spy
The US Justice Department announced Monday that a Navy Officer was sentenced to just over two years in jail for using his security clearance to provide American military data to a Chinese spy in exchange for money.
“A U.S. Navy service member was sentenced today to 27 months in prison and ordered to pay a $5,500 fine for transmitting sensitive U.S. military information to an intelligence officer from the People’s Republic of China (PRC) in exchange for bribery payments,” the DOJ stated.
26-year-old Wenheng Zhao of Monterey Park, California, a Chinese-born naturalized U.S. citizen, is the man named in the government press release.
The FBI Los Angeles 𝕏 account also issued a statement about the ruling, writing, “Today should make it very clear that the FBI and our partners in the military and at the U.S. Attorney’s Office will hold accountable anyone who succumbs to advances by the Chinese or any U.S. adversary, and in doing so, puts American secrets and American lives at risk.”
Responses to the LA FBI social media post pointed out the two-year sentence for trading secret military intelligence is a “slap on the wrist,” and many noted many peaceful January 6th protesters were hit with far more lengthy sentences.
According to The Washington Post, the average prison time for the 244 Jan. 6 defendants charged with felonies was 41.1 months, or 3½ years.
Popular 𝕏 account Libs of TikTok wrote, “A Navy Sailor was sentenced to 27 months in prison for spying for China and giving them military secrets. A January 6th attendee received 17 years in prison for knocking over a fence. The Biden DOJ is intentionally weakening America and being weaponized against political opponents.”
Former Proud Boys leader “Enrique” Tarrio was sentenced to 22 years in prison despite never stepping foot in D.C. on Jan. 6th, Oath Keepers founder Stewart Rhodes was given an 18-year prison term, military veteran Ethan Nordean got 18 years, former Infowars reporter Joe Biggs received 17 years, and Philadelphia Proud Boys president Zachary Rehl was sentenced to 15 years.
The U.S. judicial system is currently flipped upside down as the ruling class openly weaponizes the law against the establishment’s political opposition.
