“This is all so silly,” says liberal comedian.
HBO late night host Bill Maher accused Joe Biden of pretending to need a new law to address the border crisis he created, noting he already has the power to “fix” the border.
During his Friday show “Real Time”, Maher argued Republicans too are feigning interest in securing the border, claiming they don’t actually want to fix the problem because that’d be one less issue to run on ahead of the 2024 election.
“Republicans act like they want to solve this, but the Democrats called their bluff. There is a bill right now that, a lot of them, Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-KY), some pretty conservative senators, saying, this is as good a deal as you’re going to get. They don’t want it, because they don’t want this issue to be solved. Because they need it as an issue.”
New Hampshire Gov. Chris Sununu (R) later pointed out, “Joe Biden has a lot of power to change a lot of policy and affect the immigration issue.”
Maher replied, “That’s true. That’s my other — I was going to say, part two of the acting is Joe Biden saying, you know what? If you just give me a new law. A new law?”
“Why doesn’t — the President can fix this. He already has the existing laws. This is all so silly. I need a piece of paper from Congress to deal with the border. No, you already have that,” he added.
This comes as Biden has been pressuring Congress to pass a bill granting the federal government more funding to process the hordes of illegal migrants at the southern border.

But a comprehensive list released by House Speaker Mike Johnson on Friday details 64 policy decision Biden made since taking the White House that “intentionally” undermined border security and contradict his talking points that he wants to solve the issue, including halting the border wall, promising amnesty to illegals, scrapping Title 42, and rolling back background check procedures.
