California governor recalls story where his cashier said Newsom’s policies to blame for rampant crime — but didn’t realize who she was checking out.
California Governor Gavin Newsom recalled an amusingly ironic tale where a cashier blamed the state’s rampant retail thefts on his policies to his face without even realizing who he was.
In a Zoom call last week, Newsom explained how he witnessed a shoplifting during checkout at a Target in Sacramento then asked the store’s employee why nobody stopped the thief.
“She goes, ‘oh, the governor.’ Swear to God, true story on my mom’s grave,” Newsom said.
NEW: Gavin Newsom says he was visiting a Target and got blamed for a shoplifting incident to his face by a worker who didn’t recognize him.
Remarkable 😂

“The governor lowered the threshold, there’s no accountability,” the worker said.
At that point the cashier recognized Newsom and wanted to take pictures.
“She looks at me twice and then she freaks out, she calls everyone over, wants to take photos,” Newsom said.
Without a hint of self-awareness, Newsom then recalled becoming frustrated that he was being blamed for the shoplifting and asking for the manager.
“I’m like, ‘no we’re not taking a photo, we’re having a conversation, where’s your manager? How are you blaming the governor?’”
“And it was $380 later, and I was like ‘Why am I spending $380, everyone else can walk the hell right out?”
Thanks to Democrats’ soft-on-crime policies, district attorneys, and the radical governor, California has the highest rate of violent crime in the nation, which has in part resulted in the highest rate of net outmigration.
