CBP sources say “2-3 armed subjects on the Mexico side” shot at agent who returned fire in El Paso Sector
A shootout erupted along the southern border when gunmen in Mexico opened fire on a Border Patrol agent this week near El Paso, Texas, according to reports.
The disturbing incident unfolded in Border Patrol’s El Paso Sector on Thursday.
NewsNation correspondent Ali Bradley first reported on the gun battle, citing sources within Customs and Border Protection (CBP) who told her “2-3 armed subjects on the Mexico side” shot at an agent who returned fire.
“The armed subjects never entered the U.S. according to an internal alert sent out in the sector,” Bradley wrote on X.
No injuries were reported.
CBP issued a statement confirming that a “use of force incident near the border” involving a Border Patrol agent was under review.
Rep. Tony Gonzales (R-TX) weighed in on the shooting, saying, “This is not the first time our Border Patrol Agents have taken fire, nor is it the last time under Biden’s broken border policies.”
Bradley reports that the harrowing exchange took place near the scene of another recent incident involving an Indiana National Guardsman who shot an illegal alien who was seeing stabbing another illegal near concertina wire on the U.S. side of the Rio Grande
