Suspect in critical condition
Police officers in Paris, France on Tuesday shot a hijab-wearing woman who shouted, “Allahu Akbar,” and reportedly told Metro passengers, “You’re all going to die.”
Train passengers said the woman was “uttering aggressive, jihadist comments,” and repeated, “boom,” according to a French government spokesperson.
With concerns the woman could be holding a bomb, police confronted the suspect, and asked her to calm down and show her hands.
When she refused to comply, officers believed she had an explosive device hidden under her long Islamic robes and shot her.
Several officers opened fire and struck the woman who turned out to be unarmed.
The unnamed suspect survived the shooting and is in critical condition at a Paris hospital.
According to the AP, French police suspect the woman who was shot on Tuesday is the same person who was detained in 2021 for making threats during a French counter-terrorism operation.
