Gigantic skeleton created using hundreds of drones; Elon Musk comments, ‘Wow.’

A Halloween celebration in Dubai reportedly featured a gigantic moving skeleton created entirely out of drones.

The spectacular aerial display filmed next to the Burj Khalifa skyscraper in the UAE metropolis is dazzling viewers worldwide and was purportedly produced with the use of hundreds of drones operated by a company called Geoscan.

“Wow,” commented X owner and Tesla CEO Elon Musk in response to the video Wednesday.

The display was evidently so spectacular many were skeptical over its authenticity, questioning whether it was real or CGI.

The video originally appeared online Tuesday in a TikTok post belonging to the account of Russian drone show company Geoscan, which bills itself as the “World’s #1 drone show provider” with small shows starting at $20K a pop.

Despite the video appearing on the drone company’s page, many still doubted its legitimacy, with one TikTok commenter arguing, “All that focus adjusting just screams cgi,” while others pointed out the short length of the video and the fact no one in the video appears to be watching the display.

Moreover, there doesn’t appear to be any other footage of the drone skeleton from other angles circulating elsewhere on social media.

Others pointed out the puzzling nature of a Halloween show taking place in Dubai, however Mashable Middle East explains the Saudi Kingdom has recently lessened its restrictions on the holiday.

“Last year, Halloween which was banned in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia until a few years ago, was celebrated in the capital Riyadh,” Mashable writes. “The world was stunned to see several people hitting the streets in Riyadh dressed as monsters, bank robbers, witches, and more.”

LadBible.com reports a Halloween celebration indeed took place in Dubai Tuesday attended by “hundreds”: “Hundreds of spectators dressed as ghouls, ghosts and goblins surrounded the 2,716.5 feet tower – also the biggest building in the world – to witness the once-in-a-lifetime show.”

Skepticism over the validity of the video comes as Dubai has served as the backdrop for past CGI stunts, as highlighted by tech blog AV Magazine: “Dubai has previously been the scene of a fake video of a larger-than-life Barbie doll, created by UAE and KAS-based Creative Content and social media agency Eye Studio.”
