Hispanic male arrested after multiple attacks on Asian victims in Calabasas
A suspect has been arrested following unprovoked attacks on a man pushing his granddaughter in a stroller and another person in an upscale California enclave this week, authorities say.
The shocking incident unfolded on afternoon Tuesday in Calabasas, one of the wealthiest cities in the United States.
A 60-year-old Calabasas resident was on a walk in a residential neighborhood with his 10-month-old grandbaby when he was brutally ambushed.
In footage captured by a Ring doorbell camera, a “Hispanic male in his 20s” can be seen parking a minivan with Nevada plates in a random driveway moments before the assault, according a statement from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department (LACSD).
“As the victim was walking his infant grandchild in a stroller, the suspect struck the victim in the face and fled the location in the pictured vehicle,” LACSD said.
The victim was knocked to the ground, as well as the stroller and baby inside.
The suspect can seen calmly walking back to the vehicle before driving away.
Around the same time, police received a call about another assault on a male juvenile in the same area.
Authorities believe the same suspect may have carried out both attacks.
On Wednesday, LACSD announced the arrest of 29-year-old Angel Sanchez, Jr., who was charged with Assault with Force Likely to Produce Great Bodily Injury.

Sanchez was located in the city of Oxnard, approximately 35 miles from Calabasas, and taken into custody.
It is unclear if any of the victims suffered serious injuries.
