Support for Haley in NH seems minimal, however Democrats are rallying behind her as a protest vote against Trump.
A lone Nikki Haley supporter admitted she’s voting for the former Republican South Carolina governor when posed the question during an interview in a New Hampshire diner.
After ascertaining voters’ number one issue concerns immigration, a Fox News reporter went on to ask voters’ candidate of choice in the state’s GOP primary Tuesday.
“Who is going to support Nikki Haley today?” the Fox News reporter asked.
As a cold silence fell over the crowd, one solitary supporter raised her hand.
The reporter next asked, “And who plans on supporting Donald Trump?” at which point the diners erupted in cheers.
The lackluster response for Haley is a telltale sign voters in the “Live Free Or Die” State prefer Trump to the alternative, however the former UN ambassador is managing to drum up support — from Democrats of all people.
In a midnight vote count, residents in Dixville Notch, the smallest town in New Hampshire which voted for Biden in the 2020 election, all six votes cast went to Haley.
A voter interviewed by CNN, who said she voted for Trump in 2016 before switching her vote for Biden in 2020, admitted she was voting for Haley.
This appears to be part of a strategy by Democrats to flood voter rolls with false support for Haley, as outlined by a Fox News commentator.
Meanwhile, another voter basing his decision in reality and logic told CNN’s Dasha Burns he switched his vote from Haley to Trump because she has no chance.
The media’s taking the pulse on voter sentiment comes as some estimates say Trump could win as much as 50% of the state’s votes.
Haley, however, has said she will remain in the race no matter how badly she loses.
“No, I don’t get out if I lose today,” Haley told Fox News on Tuesday. “Again, I’m going to say this, we’ve had 56,000 people vote for Donald Trump, and you’re going to say that’s what the country wants? That’s not what the country wants.”
Asked about her decision to stay in the race, Trump replied, “I don’t care.”
“Let her do whatever she wants. It doesn’t matter,” Trump told reporters Tuesday.
We’ll see if Haley, after losing New Hampshire, goes on to compete against Trump in her home state, where she’s destined to lose, before the corporate donor class allows her to bow out.
