Minnesota “Squad” member defends remarks and dismisses critics calling for her to be expelled from Congress.
“Squad” member Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.) is under fire for declaring that her native homeland of Somalia comes first before the country she was elected to represent.
In an address to Somalian leaders at a hotel in Minnesota, Omar proclaimed (in Somali) that she’s “Somalia first”, followed closely by her allegiance to Islam, before the interests of America.
“We are an organized society, brothers and sister,” Rep. Omar said, according to translated captions. “People of the same blood. People who know they are Somalians first, Muslims second.”
We were profoundly surprised, even shocked on discovering the remarks made by Congresswoman Ilhan Omar (D) of Minnesota in a recent public forum, widely circulated on most social media platforms and attached below for your reference.

She went on to assure the audience that she will work “from inside the U.S. system” to advance Somalian interests.
“For as long as I am in Congress, Somalia will never be in danger, its waters will not be stolen by Ethiopia or others,” Rep. Omar said. “The U.S. would not dare support anyone against Somalia to steal our land or oceans. Sleep in comfort knowing I am here to protect the interests of Somalia from inside the U.S. system.”
Omar’s brazenly disloyal remarks were condemned by Somaliland Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Rhoda Elmi on Sunday.
The language she employed was regrettably unbecoming of both the office she holds and the constituents she represents,” Elmi said on X. “Her expressions were lacking in common decency and revealed a significant lack of understanding of basic facts.”
This comes amid an ongoing dispute between Somalia and Ethiopia over an area known as Somaliland that Somalia claims as its own.
Prominent conservatives went as far as to accuse Omar of treason and called for her to be expelled from Congress and deported back to Somalia.
“Every Republican member of congress should be calling for Ilhan Omar to be expelled from congress and deported back to where she came from,” conservative commentator Matt Walsh stated on X.

“Terrorist sympathizer Ilhan Omar in her own words: Somalian first. Muslim second. She never mentions America. She flaunts using her position as congresswoman to protect Somalia’s border while our border is invaded by MILLIONS of illegals who are a danger to America,” Rep. Marjorie Taylor Green wrote on X.

George Santos was expelled from Congress—by his own party!—because he lied on his resume.
Ilhan Omar says she’s Somali first, Muslim second, never says she’s American, & threatens to make the U.S. bow to Somali interests. EXPEL HER, you cowards.

Ilhan Omar is a searing indictment of everything that is wrong with the immigration system in this country.

Ilhan Omar is a pretty clear example of why we must never allow foreign-born or foreign-raised aliens to become elected members of government

Omar defended her comments, saying her words were misinterpreted in the translation and said she “pray” for her detractors’ “sanity”
“It’s not only slanted but completely off, but I wouldn’t expect more from these propagandists. I pray for them and for their sanity,” Omar wrote on X.

“No nation state can survive if its states start to get involved in land lease negotiations with other countries without the consent of the federal government. Somalis in Somalia and in the diaspora are united in that effort and I stand in solidarity with them. No amount of harassment and lies will ever change that.”
Imagine if we had elected representatives who cared about America as much as Omar cares for Somalia.
