GOP senator blasts ridiculous spending package for putting foreign interests ahead of America
Kentucky GOP Senator Rand Paul on Monday told his “Ukraine-first” colleagues exactly why their $95 billion foreign aid bill proposal is a disgrace to the country and helps other nations more than Americans.
Paul wrote on social media, “On the Senate Floor I told the Ukraine-first Senators they should put the criminal migrant who assaulted the policeman and flipped off America on the cover of their terrible bill!”
“The title of this bill should say, ‘Ukraine First, America Last,’ because that’s what this is really about,” he told his fellow Senators in an epic filibuster.
The Kentucky senator pointed out the bill “ignores the southern border” crisis while handing tens of billions of U.S. tax dollars to Ukraine, Israel and Taiwan.
He joked, “Open the champagne, pop the cork! The Senate Democrat leader and the Republican leader are on their way to Kyiv! They’re taking your money to Kyiv! They didn’t have much time — really no time and no money — to do anything about our border.”
Paul also noted America is in debt and cannot afford to be borrowing money just to give to other countries, especially with so many domestic issues getting out of hand.
“The bill is about giving the middle finger to America, it’s about giving the middle finger to every working class man and woman in America. It is an insult, it should be soundly rejected and we should get back to the business of this country which is protecting our borders,” he said.
“We have got a real problem and Democrats didn’t even seem to think there was a border problem until a few hundred of ’em were shipped to New York and all of a sudden they think there’s a problem now. So, they put them up in a fancy hotel and spend millions of dollars coddling them, but mark my words, the American people are smarter than the elitists up here. The title of this bill ought to be it they were honest is ‘Ukraine First, America Last.’ That’s what they should have called this bill.”
Texas GOP Congresswoman Mayra Flores Vallejo shared a clip of the speech online, writing, “America rise up with me and let’s fight back to retake our country. We can’t allow this to continue. Thank you Senator @RandPaul”
The Senate passed the bill early Tuesday morning after several hours of GOP filibusters and it will now move to a House vote.
Expected to take place sometime this week, a House vote may shut down the bill as GOP House Speaker Mike Johnson of Louisiana wants border security included in the package.
