24-year-old father of two murdered in broad daylight while on way to work

A man was shot and killed during an armed robbery caught on camera last week in Chicago, according to reports.

The shocking incident unfolded at around 7 a.m. on Friday morning on the Northwest Side of the Windy City.

The victim, a 24-year-old father of two, was walking to a bus stop on his way to work when he was accosted by a masked male brandishing a firearm, CWB Chicago reports.

A home security camera captured the brutal ambush and footage has been circulating on social media.

Two men can be seen briefly struggling on a residential sidewalk before a gun is discharged and the victim, who was shot in the chest, tumbles through a gate.

As the fatally-wounded man falls to the ground, the suspect can be heard yelling, “Gimme that f**king money! Roll over!”

The suspect then flees the scene and is believed to have jumped into a getaway vehicle nearby.

On Saturday, local citizen journalists indicated the suspected shooter was in custody and had tried to kill himself at a Chicago police station.

“They couldn’t just rob him. They had to shoot him,” Alderman Nick Sposato told Nadig Newspapers.

“All they have to do is run or speed away. We stand down and say, ‘Maybe we’ll get them next time.’”

An investigation is ongoing.
