AOC claimed that infrastructure is a tool of oppression

In a recent podcast appearance, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez claimed that the very design of America’s infrastructure, including roads and bridges, is racist and serves to “disempower” minorities.

“There is a psychic weight to living in communities that are designed to be disconnected. It affects your social life,” she said.

She talked about her own community in the Bronx and the length of time residents must spend commuting to work and to socialise.

“It is a commute not just to work. It is a commute to do anything.”

“These decisions are designed to disconnect, disempower and isolate people… to very much do so to a very specific kind of people.”

Those people, according to AOC, are “black, brown, low income, poor, etc.”

She then suggested that infrastructure is specifically designed to prevent these communities from organizing themselves politically.
